Larry Thimmesch
Painter & Sculptor
Based in Key West, Florida
I spent a lot of time outdoors in my young life, weeks on end at my Grandfather’s farm or running barefoot through my neighborhood and those farm fields, exploring nature, animals, old barns, plants, trees, water and sky. As I grew older and worked through a career, I spent a lot of time travelling the world, gaining further appreciation for other examples of beauty in nature and people. My love of all the beauty around us is what I want to give through my creations, portrayals of beautiful creatures or scenic places you also would want to be.
Whether its two dimensional paintings with oil, acrylic or watercolor, using fine brushes, big mop brushes, or palette knives, and three dimensional art using discarded bottlecaps, upcycled trash or hammered metal nailed over carved wood, there are so many ways to express and convey a sentiment, thought or appreciation of the beauty in our world. I continue to learn, explore and appreciate. There is never enough lifetime to take it all in.
These are the things I think of and these are the things I share. My art is diverse in subject, style and method. As diverse as art is in interpretation, so is our world. I hope you find something you like.
